Shirley Grimes & Band
Friday 27.02.2015 - 20:30
Kino Lichtspiele Olten
Shirley Grimes was one of the first artists Next Stop Olten invited and we are thrilled to have her back in town, presenting her new album "Lovesongs".
In the wake of her 2011 release "The Long Way Home", Shirles Grimes toured extensively. So extensively that she ended up sick in bed for over two months after the tour ended. "It was a good but harrowing time", as she recalls. Before releasing her seventh album "Lovesongs", for a moment she felt uncertain and even considered stopping the release. The temptation to say no and stop everything is always big, as she says. But once again she went ahead instead. Not because she had to, but because of the songs. "The songs that are on the album came to me. I don’t know why, but they did. In them there is a story that wants to be told and I am the one who has to tell it. The songs are not about the sentimental love expressed on greeting cards but something deeper and truer – something that I have best been able to experience with the passing years: the love for my children, my partner, my friends, my past . . . my life."
And we all will be there, all ears listening to her "Lovesongs" and will glad she did not stop.
