The Red Planet

A lot of time has passed since Texas-born John Cable and Coloradoan Stephen Ferron met in the 1970s as young musicians in Denver. John later joined the pioneering country-rockers, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, while Stephen settled in Europe. Now and then their paths would to cross and in 2015, the two got together with Billy Gewin in Georgia where they laid the foundations for the Red Planet recording project. John and Billy wrote the songs for "When the Levee Breaks Through", which was then recorded in Wales and in Atlanta with illustrious guest musicians including Nitty Gritty Dirt Band veteran John McEuen.
When the Levee Breaks through features all the qualities of a great Americana production: masterfully written songs, beautifully sung and played.
In the spring of 2018, the busy touring schedule of John Cable, who currently tours extensively with John McEuen, has allowed a short tour in Switzerland, Stephen Ferron's new home country. Along with John and Stephen, the band includes singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Billy Gewin and Marla Feeney, another virtuoso instrumentalist who contributed significantly to the album. Original Americana at its best: live music performed with passion and finesse.
